E-ZPass customers driving passenger vehicles (Class 1) now pay $0.071 per mile, an increase from the 2024 rate of $0.065. For those using cash or credit cards, the rate has risen to $0.104 per mile from $0.096.

Similarly, the toll rate for commercial vehicles (Class 5) has increased to $0.220 per mile for E-ZPass users, up from $0.204, while cash and credit card users are charged $0.276 per mile, compared to $0.256 in the previous year.

A full westbound trip across the 241-mile Ohio Turnpike, from Pennsylvania to Indiana, now costs E-ZPass users with passenger vehicles (Class 1) $18.50, reflecting a $1.50 increase. Cash or credit card users are charged $27.00, an increase of $1.75.

For commercial vehicles (Class 5), the cost is $57.50 with E-ZPass, up $4.25, and $72.25 for cash or credit, an increase of $5.25.

In the eastbound direction, from Indiana to Pennsylvania, E-ZPass customers with passenger vehicles (Class 1) pay $15.50, a $1.25 increase, while cash or credit card users are charged $22.75, up $1.50.

Commercial vehicles (Class 5) incur a toll of $48.50 with E-ZPass, up $3.50, or $61.00 with cash or credit, an increase of $4.50.

Despite the adjustments, the Ohio Turnpike has claimed that its toll rates remain among the lowest in the USA. E-ZPass users will continue to save an average of 33% compared to those paying by cash or credit card.

The updated toll rates are part of the commission’s broader financial strategy to manage operational costs, debt servicing and ongoing infrastructure improvements.

The ‘Schedule of Tolls for 2024-2028’, which includes the latest rate adjustments, was approved in April 2023 after a series of public hearings held between January and February 2023.

The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission operates independently of tax revenue, relying solely on toll income to maintain its roadway, bridge, and related infrastructure projects.
