Mont Blanc Motorways and Tunnel to adopt free-flow tolling by 2027
The initiative, scheduled for completion by spring 2027, will replace traditional toll plazas with five bidirectional toll gantries between Sallanches and Annemasse, aiming to improve travel times and streamline the user experience.
Emovis will implement free-flow tolling and back-office solutions designed to detect, classify and manage vehicles using artificial intelligence algorithms.
These systems have been successfully deployed in several countries, including the UK, USA and Chile.
Christophe Dubois, director of networks and environment at ATMB, said: “The challenges are considerable, and we are counting on this well-established partner in the free-flow market to guide us through this multi-dimensional transformation.”
Emovis will manage the system’s operations and maintenance alongside ATMB over the contract period.
The new system aims to not only enhance the user experience but also contribute to reducing emissions as vehicles will no longer need to stop at toll barriers.
