Java’s Bawen toll road reaches construction milestone
PT Jasa Marga (Pesero) Tbk. has announced that the construction progress of Section 1 of the Yogyakarta-Simpang Susun (SS) Banyurejo section along 8.80 km has reached 67.06%.

The work was completed via Pesaro subsidiary PT Jasamarga Jogja Bawen (PT JJB) with land acquisition in the area now 95.29% complete.

In an effort to accelerate the completion of the project, PT JJB has completed girder erection work in several locations with landfill work at several points has also been carried out.

As one of Semarang Regency government’s National Strategic Projects, the toll road aims to support the government’s program in infrastructure development.

When fully operational, the journey between Semarang and Yogyakarta is expected to be more efficient, with the travel time from 3 hours shortened to only 1.5 hours.

The construction of this toll road will not only facilitate the distribution of goods but also encourage the development of industry and tourism, as well as improve connectivity, especially in the southern region of Java Island.

PT JJB also announced that progress of Section 6 of the Ambarawa-Bawen section along 4.98 km has reached 34.09%, with the land acquisition progress of 78.06%.

President director of PT JJB, AJ Dwi Winarsa said: “Construction of these two sections is currently a top priority and is targeted for completion for Section 1 in Quarter 2 of 2026 and Section 6 in Quarter 4 of 2025.

“Both sections are expected to operate according to plan.

“The construction progress of Section 6 of the Ambarawa-Bawen Section is currently in the process of obtaining permits from the affected agencies.”
