Indra to deploy traffic and tolling technology on Atlanta’s SR 400 express lanes
The project is being delivered by the SR 400 Peach Partners consortium — comprising ACS Infrastructure Development, Acciona, and Meridiam — under a 55-year contract with the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the express lanes.
Indra will provide a suite of technology solutions, including a cloud-based traffic management platform, communications infrastructure, intelligent traffic systems, a dynamic operational back-office and an open road tolling system.
The deployment will span more than 16 miles (27.7km) of highway, aiming to improve road safety, reduce congestion and offer more flexible travel options.
Raúl Ripio, Indra’s managing director of mobility and technology, said: “The new express lanes will be optional and facilitate advanced and flexible mobility solutions, reducing congestion and emissions and enabling travellers to enjoy excellent service and absolute safety.
“It isn’t the future, it’s the present, and a country as technologically advanced as the USA is committed to it.”
The system will incorporate advanced predictive traffic analytics, enhanced vehicle classification and operational efficiencies designed to reduce maintenance costs.
The project builds on Indra’s existing footprint in the USA, which includes the installation of similar tolling and traffic management technologies on Virginia’s I-66 express lanes and ongoing deployments on North Carolina’s I-485 and Virginia’s I-95, I-495, and I-395 interstates.
