M6toll emerges as ‘preferred route’ for HGVs
Year-to-date figures show that M6toll users save an average of 786 hours annually, compared to 22 hours saved on similar journeys via the M6 motorway.
The M6toll’s efficiency is attributed to lower congestion levels, enabling more predictable travel times. In comparison, the M6 is subject to higher traffic variability and delays due to frequent congestion and incidents.
Data also points to reduced traffic volumes on the M6toll contributing to fewer accidents. In cases where incidents do occur, the road’s incident support units respond within an average of 20 minutes, helping to minimise disruption.
What’s more, overnight closures on the M6toll are managed to maintain road accessibility and safety, reducing the impact of diversions.
Sarah Gourlay, senior account manager at M6toll, said: “When you look at the latest round of data from our team, what it shows is that if you choose to put your vehicles on the M6 then you are taking a huge risk with your business.
“There is the risk that your deliveries will not arrive on time, your drivers will not have as stress-free a drive as they could, and a strong possibility of diversions from your main route and lower levels of customer service for your business.”
The data highlights a shift within the HGV sector towards prioritising routes that offer reliability and efficiency, positioning the M6toll as an alternative for businesses looking for dependable transit options in the region.
