Chile employs Emovis’ OBO to improve electronic transaction productivity

ViasChile has begun using Emovis’ new Operational Back Office (OBO) solution that will improve the productivity of electronic transaction processing and the quality of the data obtained in toll gantries.

Known as Emovis Qualify, the solution reportedly ensures 100% management of the transactions sent by the roadside systems, using different robots and algorithms.

The scalable solution can support any type of roadside system.

The Emovis OBO in Chile will impact Autopista Central, the largest urban highway that crosses the capital city Santiago from north to south through two high-speed express lanes.

Emovis will seek to build on its 10-year experience and expertise in implementing free-flow tolling system OBOs for the likes of Metropistas in Puerto Rico, A25 in Canada and Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority in the US.

The implementation of the OBO is part of ViasChile’s Operational Domain Design Project, conducted by Commercial Operation Area, Technology and Innovation team and Processes and Environment Area.

Emovis will support ViasChile throughout the implementation of the OBO ranging from the definition of business rules to its integration to third-party systems.

The contract was signed in May 2024 and the first phase began in July and will last 18 months in total.

Emovis CEO of abertis mobility services, Christian Barrientos, said: “Our OBO is designed with a high degree of automation to manage very high volumes of data with minimal manual intervention.

“The system is tailored to local client needs across the world and brings continual innovation to enable robust revenue collection. It will adapt and evolve to meet the needs of our stakeholders in Chile.”
