AETIS elects new leadership to drive EETS development across Europe

AETIS elects new leadership to drive EETS development across Europe
The Association of European Tolling and Interoperability Service (AETIS) has appointed new leadership to oversee its efforts in advancing the European Electronic Toll Service (EETS).

The election took place during the organisation’s General Assembly in Rome, Italy on 5 February 2025.

Francesco Maria Cenci of Telepass has been elected as chairman, replacing Eva Tzoneva, who stepped down after a decade in the role.

Other appointments include Jérôme Lejeune of DKV as secretary general, Antonio Costa of Eurotoll Lumesia as treasurer, and board members Marco Siragusa of Verra Mobility and Felix Wex of Toll4Europe.

Cenci expressed his commitment to ensuring fair and transparent market conditions for EETS providers, stating: “I am honoured to take on the role of chairman of AETIS at such a pivotal time for the future of EETS in Europe.

“We will continue to work toward fair and transparent market conditions for EETS providers while ensuring that the EETS regulatory framework supports the needs of both the industry and road users.”

The new board will focus on advocating for improved EU regulations, fostering technological innovation and ensuring a seamless tolling experience for both transport operators and personal vehicle users.

AETIS will also engage with policymakers on upcoming road user charging schemes, such as those launched in Denmark in 2025 and the Netherlands and Alsace in 2026.
